For over 30 years, NCLS Research has studied changing social trends and the churches’ place within Australian society. We're pleased to continue to equip leaders with evidence and insight for changing times.
The NCLS research project identified 9 core qualities of a healthy church that we still stand by. Though how that looks and is embodied by churches might appear different, given the social distancing measures in place. Perhaps your church has streamed online, or moved to small groups, or perhaps delayed gatherings altogether, finding other ways to remain connected.
In this climate, we ask, as you continue to seek to nurture faith in your church, as you face challenges and seek to sustain hope and a real sense of belonging, we encourage you again to be intentional about reflecting on your church's health and the shape of its future.
The 2021 National Church Life Survey gives your church the opportunity to listen to your attenders' experiences and views, gauge your church's health, and identify strengths to build on into the future.
This year the 2021 NCLS will track emerging trends, with specific questions addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts on churchgoers across the country. Drawing on thousands of church leaders and congregations, the NCLS not only generates a snapshot of the Church in Australia but also yields incredibly valuable insight for churches as they adjust to doing church differently.
Concerned about the impact of COVID restrictions on the survey?
The 2021 NCLS is adaptable to different levels of COVID restrictions. It can be completed via paper surveys, online or both. Every survey can be completed online if restrictions are in place.
